PE 10 Summative Assessment

This semester has been great for my physical education. My fitness level has increased so much. Most of this change has been experienced outside of PE class in my swimming. At the last competition, in every event that I raced, I dropped my time. This was an international competition and I got to compete with Ryan Lochte. In the 50m butterfly, I took off almost a second and was .5 off of my age group national time standard. The next day in the 100m butterfly, I took off three seconds and was .3 off of my age group national time. I also raced the 200m IM that day in which I took off five seconds. The last day, I swam the 200m butterfly and took off seven seconds, .4 off of my Western qualifying time and the 100m back and took off three seconds from the time that I'd posted the previous week. It was a great competition for me and showed how much my fitness level has been increasing.

Our PE class is first block of the day which means a definite lack of enthusiasum. Every day, I try to stay positive and always do my best. Sometimes my results are lacking because I have swim practice half an hour before fitness day and I'm really tired but I want to succeed.

I have always been afraid of balls because my face is like a magnet, however on my birthday, I had a breakthrough. We were playing speed ball, I scored two goals. Me! That has definately raised my confidence with balls.

To be physically educated. In my opinion, this means knowing how to keep your body healthy in a way that you enjoy. In PE class, we explore many ways to keep your fitness up. But not only fitness is important. Its a lifestyle. Its knowing what you eat and puting things into your body that will help it stay healthy, its doing something active that you love to do every day, its getting into bed at a reasonable time so that you get the minimum of eight hours every night, its keeping an open mind , to try new things that may scare you. These things are really important to me and I think that I can do them without PE class. I have swimming that I love and do eight times a week. I never eat anything without looking at the ingredients and the nutrition lable and I try to get to bed early, espessialy on the night before I have morning practice. Every day at practice is something new, something harder and sometimes I'm not sure if I can make the set times but in the end I do and I feel like I've accomplished something.

I believe that according to the above, I deserve an A in PE 10.

My trip to Hawaii

This weekend, I got back from my vacation to Kauai. I had a very exciting experience even though it rained so often. I swam in the warm ocean amongst the most amazing fish and at one point directly beside a giant sea turtle! I also got a cultural experience when I joined the swim team there for a few days. There was also another team training with them from Calgary. I made sure to do some form of physical activity everyday because I did not want to lose what I had accomplished by working so hard in swimming. It was a fun trip.

Interim Fitness report

During PE 10 so far I have only done the fitness test once however, I have gone away twice for swimming competitions, each time improving my times. The first time I went to Saskatoon for Western Canadian Championships. It lasted for five days during which I swam he 50m butterfly, 100m butterfly, and the 200m butterfly. I acheived best times in two out of the three races. The second time that I went away it was to Victoria for AAA provincial Championships. I raced the 200m IM, 50m free, 100m free, 100m butterfly, and the 200m butterfly along with three relays. I got personal bests in all of my events including taking 4 seconds off of my two second best time from Westerns. I have been continually improving my fitness. In class, I have been enthusiastic about participating even though all balls want me dead. I have gotten hit usually in the face every time I have used a ball this semester so far! I hope that this changes for the better for the rest of PE 10.

Western championships

If you would like to watch some of the races, I think you can go to www.swimming.ca click on speedo Western Canadian Championships. This should take you to another page. Then click on multimedia. I probably won't make finals (this is my first time at this meet) but you can watch anyways if you want.

Today's swim practice

Swim practice today was pretty easy since I have Westerns coming up this week. There was npo school today so I had no PE class but this was my main set today.

All butterfly

8x25m on 30 sec.
6x50m on 1 min.
2x100m on 1min 50 sec
6x50m on 1min
8x25m on 1 min.

I am extremely excited for the competition!

My first PE week

On my first fitness day of the semester I was already sore from the prevoius day's swim practice and I was getting sick, however, I only dropped one level from my best beep test and added 45 seconds to my plank.

Beep test: 9.6
Plank: 5 mins 15 sec
Flexibility: level 5

I did not have time to do anything else.
After school, I went to my swim practice as usual and did 30 mins of dryland and  an hour and a half in the water.

On Monday, we had choice and I chose volleyball. I tryed to be involved as best I could but Amy and balls don't work well together. I got hit in the face with the ball :(

On Tuesday's fitness, I ran the whole time and had fun. I was running with a smile on my face and high fiving everybody!

On Wednsday, I was 20 mins late due to morning swim practice. I had a lot of fun playing blind volleyball.

Today, Thursday, I was very impressed with myself that I caugh some balls without them hitting me and I threw balls so that they could be caught!

After school on each day this week I went to swim practice.
